InZOI's next update, scheduled for October 15, adds Lua script mod support with built-in hooks for AI language models and MCP (Model Context Protocol) tools. Developer Kjun previewed the system in this week's developer diary, showing off ten mods created by the InZOI team using LLM prompts, and openly inviting players to try the same workflow.

It is a notable policy choice. Where EA's Sims 4 Maker Program application explicitly discourages AI-generated content and mods, Krafton is building AI tooling directly into InZOI's modding pipeline and using it as a selling point for accessibility.

What the developer diary showed

Kjun's diary included ten script mods, each created with LLM prompts and running on Lua scripts through InZOI's MCP integration. A few standouts:

  • Car Painter lets your Zoi repaint their own car in-game.
  • Auto Home Decorator furnishes and arranges a room entirely through Lua scripts, using Free Edit Mode and user cheats to resize and place objects with no UI mod required.
  • Dowon Drift adds new driving controls for proper car drifting.
  • Real Painting gives the painting skill a hands-on system where the player paints directly on the easel canvas.
  • Visual Novel layers cutscene-style UI, text boxes, and character portraits over gameplay for a visual novel aesthetic.
  • Flying Destroyer Zoi is the wildest of the set: flight controls, ascending and descending, particle effects around the feet, and laser eyes that set objects and terrain on fire.

The diary showed both the prompts used and the resulting in-game behavior for each mod, positioning the system as something non-programmers could experiment with.

A big update beyond modding

Script mods are the headline, but the October 15 patch touches a wide range of systems. Some of the more significant changes:

Autonomy and conversation got a rework. Zois now pick conversation topics based on emotional state, relationship type, and intimacy. Greetings vary by mood and relationship, and Zois with poor relationships will warn trespassers twice before kicking them out. Lot visit behavior has been improved by age group, and Zois can now naturally move between nearby lots like Nuri Square and Harang Stream.

Build Mode picks up free object placement and scaling cheats, a basement wall drawing tool, and over 113 new objects including salon assets, European-style clock towers, LED shelves, outdoor sculptures, and two tile textures.

Create-a-Zoi (CAZ) now lets players preconfigure intimacy levels, preference likes and dislikes, and relationships when building a family. Five new hairstyles, new facial hair, makeup presets, raincoats, themed outfits, and anime-style masks round out the additions.

Seventeen resident households across Dowon, Bliss Bay, and Cahaya have been completely overhauled with new appearances, backstories, temperaments, traits, and relationships. These changes apply fully to new saves only; existing saves get updated descriptions and photos.

Other quality-of-life improvements include first-person view while surfing and diving, a wall-mounted medicine cabinet with five medication options, unified overhead stat icons replacing numerical progress bars, autocomplete for user cheats, individual door permissions per household member, and a Lot Autonomy Plan Edit Mode.

Kjun addresses community feedback

Earlier in the week, Kjun posted a direct response to recurring player concerns. On the question of whether mods are replacing base game development, the answer was clear: "Mod support does not replace our own work on the fundamentals. Our team is still working on personality, autonomy, emotions and animation." Kjun did note that the team would look at popular mods for ideas worth bringing into the official game.

The response also acknowledged specific immersion issues players have raised, like Zois not making eye contact, showing the same expression regardless of mood, and NPCs standing idle at events. Kjun said the October update adds reactions such as Zois greeting people they know and hosts eventually asking unwelcome guests to leave, with more reaction types to follow.

The developer diary framed the update as part of a shift toward more frequent, focused patches rather than large, infrequent overhauls. For a game that has been out for over a year and a half and is still working toward its PS5 release, that cadence may matter as much as any single feature.

The full October 15 patch notes and modding guide video are expected next week.
