Luma Island, the cozy life sim from indie developer Feel Free Games, is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The console versions will also introduce cross-platform multiplayer, letting up to four players explore together across PC, PlayStation, and Xbox.
No specific release date has been announced yet. Both the PS5 and Xbox editions are listed as "coming soon" with wishlist pages available now.
What is Luma Island?
Originally released on Steam in November 2024, Luma Island drops players onto a colorful island where they can farm, fish, mine, and craft without the stamina bars or inventory limits common in the genre. Players choose from several professions, including Blacksmith, Brewer, Fisherman, and Treasure Hunter, each with its own quest line, tools, and crafting recipes.
The island is also home to Lumas, magical companions that tag along and offer different abilities like finding buried treasure. For players who want a low-pressure experience, a Cozy difficulty setting makes combat entirely optional.
The game currently holds a "Very Positive" rating on Steam, with 90% of over 3,700 reviews recommending it. Feel Free Games says the game has reached more than 800,000 players on PC.
Cross-platform co-op changes the pitch
Luma Island already supports online co-op for up to four players on PC, but the console launch brings cross-platform play into the mix. That means a group split across Steam, PS5, and Xbox can share one island session, a setup that is still relatively rare among cozy life sims. For a genre where multiplayer options remain limited, this could set Luma Island apart for friend groups who do not all play on the same platform.
The game received a large content update in 2025 that added a new zone and an additional profession, and the current Steam version bundles that expansion in. It is worth noting that some players and critics have pointed out the game leans heavily into exploration and crafting at the expense of storytelling and NPC interaction, so your mileage may vary if those are what you look for in a life sim.
Steam sale running now
If you want to try Luma Island on PC before the console launch, it is currently 40% off on Steam at $11.99 (down from $19.99). That sale runs through September 28.
