The Sims 4's October 27 patch is live now on PC, Mac, Xbox, and PlayStation, delivering over 150 bug fixes, a free Elder content drop, and some of the most requested gameplay corrections in recent memory. Here is what changed and what to watch for before you load your save.
We covered the preview yesterday, and the final release matches up: Dine Out restaurants, save corruption, autonomous behavior quirks, and a calorie rebalance are all addressed.
Dine Out restaurants and bartender fixes
The biggest quality-of-life win in this patch is for Dine Out owners. EA and Maxis have fixed the long-standing bug that caused Sims to autonomously leave their restaurant tables mid-meal, which was effectively breaking the entire pack. Dining out should now play through without your guests wandering off before the food arrives.
A related fix targets bartenders freezing in place and refusing to serve drinks. That one is resolved, though the team notes a second bartender-related issue is still under investigation, so keep an eye on bar lots if anything still looks off.
Save corruption and the white screen problem
If you have been locked out of a save file by an infinite white loading screen, this patch should let you back in. EA warns that some lot details may need rebuilding after recovery, but previously inaccessible saves should load again. Back up your saves before updating, just in case.
New weight and calorie settings
Food prices and calorie counts have been rebalanced across the board. More notably, there is a new gameplay setting that lets you disable muscle and weight changes from food and exercise entirely. You will find the toggles under Game Options. This is a straightforward on/off switch, no mods needed.
Free Elder CAS and build items
This patch adds a small but welcome free content drop focused on Elder Sims:
- Two new hairstyles (Quiff Side Part Hair and Half Down Waves Hair) available for Adults and Elders
- Four new clothing items: a Sweater, Lace Dress, Sleeveless Blouse, and Midi Skirt with Pockets
- Five clothing recolors for existing pieces like Grandma's Dress, Grandpa's High Jacket, and several cardigans
- Four new Styled Looks for Elders in CAS
- 11 new Build/Buy items including a floral armchair, sofa, double bed, ruffled curtains in three variations, a circle rug, a light sconce, trim wallpaper, a decorative chalkboard sign, and a duck table light
- A new Styled Room built around the floral furniture set
- Four new pre-made Elder Sims on the Gallery: Raven Ballard, Elena Marquez, Daniel Kwon, and Malik Nasir
Other notable fixes
- TV locking is here: you can now lock specific TVs for selected Sims, matching the existing computer locking feature
- Pressure cooker autonomy from For Rent has been toned down so Sims stop obsessively using it on their own
- 375+ recipes across multiple packs are now compatible with the Family Recipe system from Home Chef Hustle Stuff Pack
Before you update: mod and CC warning
EA flags this patch as likely to break mods and custom content. Disable your Mods folder before launching, and check with your mod creators for updated versions before re-enabling anything. If your EA App is not downloading the update, clear your app cache and try again.
