The Sims 4 Marketplace has quietly expanded beyond the game itself. An EA App update rolling out today on PC and Mac adds a dedicated Maker Packs section and a visible Moola balance directly inside the launcher, meaning you can now browse and buy community-made content without opening The Sims 4 at all.

The update was spotted by @mario_principe on X and covered by Sims Community, and it may explain why no new Maker Packs appeared on the Marketplace for roughly a week. EA and Maxis have not issued a formal announcement about the change yet.

What actually changed in the EA App

Three things are different once the update is applied:

Your current Moola balance now appears in the upper right corner of both the EA App Home Page and The Sims 4 game page. Previously, checking how much Moola you had meant launching the game and navigating to the in-game Marketplace.

The Sims 4 Add-Ons page now has a separate section for Maker Packs. Each listing shows the creator's name, the pack name, and the price in Moola, so you can scan what is available before you commit to anything.

You can redeem a Maker Pack directly from that page. Once purchased, the pack is ready to download the next time you launch The Sims 4. The entire transaction stays in Moola; unlike expansion packs or kits, Maker Packs are not purchased with real currency at the point of sale.

Console players are left out for now

This update applies to the EA App on PC and Mac only. If you play on Xbox or PlayStation, you will still need to open The Sims 4 itself to see your Moola balance and browse Maker Packs. There is no indication yet whether a similar integration is planned for consoles.

For PC and Mac players who regularly pick up Maker Packs, the change removes one small friction point. Browsing in the launcher is faster than booting the full game, and having your Moola balance visible at a glance makes it easier to decide whether to top up before a new release drops.
