The Sims 4's next patch lands on Tuesday, October 27, and it is one of the most food-focused updates the game has ever received. EA's latest Laundry List details more than 150 bug fixes, with a heavy emphasis on cooking, dining, and drinks, alongside a handful of welcome new features and quality-of-life changes.
Here is what is coming and what it means for your saves.
New muscle and weight toggle, leftovers fix, and 375 added recipes
The headline feature is a new Game Options toggle that lets you turn off muscle and weight changes for all Sims in a save. Players who want their Sims to keep a consistent look without micromanaging meals and gym visits have been asking for this for years, and it is now a single setting.
Beyond that, the patch makes several practical changes to how food works day-to-day:
- Sims will now autonomously prefer eating leftovers when hungry, rather than cooking a brand new meal while perfectly good food sits in the fridge.
- You can drag food prepared by another Sim into the fridge, closing a longstanding gap in food storage.
- A tuning pass has updated pricing and calorie values for all food and drink items across the base game and every pack.
- Over 375 pre-existing dishes have been added to the valid recipe pool. That means recipes that were technically in the game but not accessible through normal cooking interactions are now available.
- Baking Skill items get a new "Quickly Decorate" interaction.
- Sims are more likely to stay seated while eating at a table.
- Sims will no longer put food in inappropriate places.
- Sims should no longer autonomously fire up the grill during snow, rain, ice, or storms.
That last one alone will save a lot of frustrated players from watching their Sim stand outside grilling hot dogs in a blizzard.
Dine Out gets some overdue attention
The Dine Out pack has been notoriously buggy for a long time, and this patch addresses three specific pain points:
- Waiters should no longer fail to show up for their shifts, which was one of the main reasons restaurant lots would grind to a halt.
- Dining customers will socialize less before being seated, which should speed up the painfully slow seating process.
- Customers should now actually finish their food and drinks before checking out, instead of leaving full plates behind.
These are targeted fixes rather than a full Dine Out overhaul, but they hit the issues players report most often.
Top community fixes
Several high-profile bugs tracked on the EA Forums are resolved in this patch:
- An endless loading screen triggered by placing lots that used Move Objects extensively.
- An infinite white screen when loading into certain save files with residential rentals.
- Sims being unable to order food or drinks from bartenders.
- Fairy Sims not properly transforming into werewolves after being bitten.
- Multiple instances of Sims freezing in place, including a routing-related freeze.
- Visual corruption during werewolf transformations on the active Sim.
- Reborn Infant Sims not being added to an existing household after the Rebirth process.
- Infants not falling asleep in cribs unless their Energy was extremely low.
The update also includes roughly 10 new crash fixes as part of EA's ongoing stability work.
Smaller additions worth knowing about
Two quality-of-life changes outside the food theme are worth flagging. Televisions can now be locked to specific Sims, similar to how computers already work. If you have been fighting your entire household over a single TV, this should help. The save backup system has also been adjusted to "calculate slightly differently," though EA did not elaborate on what that means in practice. Previous updates have introduced similar incremental QoL tweaks, like the phone silencing option added earlier this year.
EA also noted that the December update will focus on around 25 major top community issues as the team prepares for the holiday break.
