The Sims 4 Marketplace picked up two more Maker Packs today, both continuing the "Flashback to School" Y2K theme that has dominated the storefront for most of September. The packs are available now on PC, Mac, and console for 300 Moola ($3 USD) each.

Meet the Maker Packs Debuting in The Sims 4

Away Message Madness by MODCO

This one leans hard into the early-2000s computer room fantasy. The set includes eight build mode items: a frosted glass desk, a chunky all-in-one CRT computer, a tower of burned CDs, a multi-headed gooseneck floor lamp, and a vinyl inflatable chair, among others. Color options run across a wide prismatic spectrum, and there is a "vintage" variant with yellowed, dusty plastic for anyone who wants their Sim's setup to look like it survived a decade in a garage. No CAS items are included.

MODCO's description promises "the ultimate Back-To-School setup for Sims who care more about custom profile fonts than actual homework," which, as a pitch for a $3 decor set, is at least self-aware.

Note Nook: After School Study by icemunmun

icemunmun's pack takes a softer route. Note Nook includes 14 build mode items built around a pastel study nook for child and teen Sims. The furniture uses scalloped edges and chunky shapes in pink, mint, blue, lavender, and neutral tones. Highlights include a small book set with bookends that doubles as a tabletop bookshelf, homework and craft clutter for a lived-in look, and a water bottle and lunch bag. Like the MODCO pack, there are no CAS items here.

This is the more practical of the two if you regularly build spaces for younger Sims. The clutter pieces alone could fill out a kid's bedroom or a homework corner in a family home.

The Y2K fatigue is real

These two packs arrive after a steady stream of Flashback to School releases throughout September. Sims Community tracked waves landing on September 8, 17, 19, and now 21, bringing the month's total to at least nine or ten Maker Packs, most of them tied to the same Y2K aesthetic. Their reader poll on today's release returned 100% voting "Neither" at the time of writing, with zero comments.

That is a rough signal for a pair of packs that, individually, are fine for what they are. The MODCO set has personality; the icemunmun set has utility. But stacked against weeks of the same visual theme with no break, even $3 feels like a harder sell than it should be.

If you missed earlier Marketplace additions, we covered three Maker Packs that launched in July, including two free ones. And for anyone updating their game this week, the September 22 patch brings over 95 bug fixes and an autonomy overhaul.

Both packs can be purchased through the in-game Marketplace or directly on EA.com.
