The Sims 4 Marketplace picked up two new Maker Packs today, both continuing the ongoing "Flashback to School" content run. Away Message Madness by MODCO and Note Nook: After School Study by Icemunmun are available now on PC, Mac, and console for 300 Moola ($3 USD) each.

If you have been following the Marketplace this summer, the Y2K aesthetic will look familiar. EA and its community creators have leaned heavily into the theme across multiple Maker Pack drops and the recent September Gallery Spotlight. These two packs push further into that lane with a retro PC setup and a kid-friendly homework corner.

Meet the Maker Packs Debuting in The Sims 4

Away Message Madness by MODCO

This one is pure late-90s computer room nostalgia. The set includes a frosted glass desk, a chunky all-in-one CRT PC, a tower of burned CDs, a multi-headed gooseneck floor lamp, and a vinyl inflatable chair. MODCO describes the chair as high-friction seating your Sim will stick to, which is exactly how those things worked.

Color options span what MODCO calls a "full prismatic spectrum," ranging from neon lime green to faded beige. There is also an intentionally dated swatch set meant to look like discolored, dusty plastic from 1999.

The pack is available on the EA website or through the in-game Marketplace.

Note Nook: After School Study by Icemunmun

Where Away Message Madness skews retro-teen, this pack targets younger Sims. Note Nook is a pastel study space designed for child and teen Sims, built around soft colors and chunky furniture with scalloped edges. The color palette covers pink, mint, blue, lavender, and neutral tones that mix and match freely.

Standout items include a small book set with bookends that doubles as a tabletop bookshelf, plus homework and craft clutter pieces that give a room a lived-in, mid-homework-session look. Icemunmun describes it as a nook "for homework, doodles, quiet moments and big ideas."

This pack is also listed on the EA website.

Y2K fatigue or still going strong?

The Sims Community article covering the release opened with "Sick of the Y2K theme? Well, tough luck," which captures a growing sentiment among some players. Between the Flashback to School branding and multiple Y2K-adjacent drops this year, the Marketplace has returned to this well often. Whether that is a problem depends on how much retro furniture your builds can absorb, but at $3 per pack, neither is a major commitment for players who want a specific piece or two.
