InZOI's latest developer diary, published the day after the v0.10.0 update landed, takes a different format from the usual weekly recap. Producer and director Hyungjun "Kjun" Kim calls it an "open catalog," showing screenshots of in-development features, objects, and animations without captions or explanations. The idea is to give players a peek at what the team is working on without locking in promises that might change.

But the diary does more than tease mystery screenshots. Kjun also lays out four concrete features the team is preparing for October.

What's confirmed for October

Lot autonomous behavior editing is the headline addition. Right now, restaurant businesses in InZOI tend to feel similar because they rely on the same preset interactions. The October update will let players define custom object behaviors in Build Mode, so "when a Zoi uses this object, they behave like this" becomes something you set up yourself. Two restaurants on the same street could play completely differently.

City resident family rework. Kjun acknowledges that many pre-made families don't match the city they live in, with looks and careers that break the sense of place. The team is redesigning those families to fit each city's concept and adding new career backstories for them.

Starting lot choice. Players who want to build up from nothing will be able to pick a run-down lot when they first choose their city, rather than starting somewhere already furnished. This has been a common request in the community, and it should give rags-to-riches playstyles more room to breathe.

Script mods and a ModKit. This is the one modders have been waiting for. Kjun says the team is refining the ModKit alongside a small group of modders, folding in feedback before a wider release. No exact date yet, but the phrasing ("getting Script Mods ready to put in your hands soon") suggests it's close.

The open catalog: what's in the screenshots

The uncaptioned portion of the diary is deliberately vague, but Sims Community cataloged each item shown. Some highlights:

  • Prison interiors, prisoner outfits, and a police bulletproof vest, suggesting a law enforcement or criminal justice system in the works.
  • Bike race animations and courses.
  • Audio and DJ equipment, alongside what appears to be a songwriting interface.
  • Model animations, autograph request animations for both adults and children, and what looks like a fame or celebrity mechanic.
  • A mailing system of some kind.
  • Vintage and cottagecore clothing items.
  • A baby smashing a television with a baseball bat, which is the kind of chaos InZOI seems happy to lean into.

None of these came with timelines. Some could arrive in the next update; others might be months away. The "open catalog" format is designed to avoid setting expectations on items that are still early in development.

Looking further ahead

Kjun closes with a note about an upcoming event where the team will show "gameplay that has never been revealed anywhere before." No details on what the event is or when it takes place, but the emphasis on a "true first look" suggests something bigger than a standard patch cycle.

For players still getting their footing with the September update's vacations and restaurants, there's already a lot on the plate. But the October roadmap, particularly custom business behaviors and script mod support, signals that InZOI is moving fast on the infrastructure that gives players and modders long-term creative control.
