InZOI's next update, expected mid-October, focuses squarely on modding. Script mod support, a new Mod Kit with HTML-based UI tools and Lua scripting, and built-in AI assistant integration are all arriving before the larger December update.

Director Kjun Kim outlined the changes in a developer diary, saying the team has "made it possible to create UI with simple HTML" and added "Lua scripting and integrated MCP" to give modders more control. The MCP (Model Context Protocol) feature is particularly notable: it lets AI assistants like Claude, ChatGPT, and Gemini read and drive both the ModKit and the running game directly, with two local servers handling game state and mod project editing respectively.

What the Mod Kit includes

The InZOI ModKit documentation is already live, covering a wide spread of mod categories: character customization (face, hair, clothing, accessories), build objects with mesh and material editing, interactive objects with animation events, vehicles, sound mods, data mods for altering gameplay behavior, and the new overlay UI system with scripting support.

On the AI side, Kjun emphasized accessibility: "With recent advances in AI, I believe mod creation is becoming easier and more accessible to more people." The ModKit toolbar includes an MCP button that registers 13 AI assistants in one click, and a custom port can be configured via Steam launch parameters. Finished mods can be exported to CurseForge or installed locally.

Community mods already in testing

A small group of modders worked directly with Krafton's development team ahead of this update, and their test projects give a good sense of what script mods can do. Among the highlights:

  • Custom vehicles built from in-game assets, including a bed-car, a grand piano vehicle, and an aquatic sea creature
  • A Pocket Market expansion that uses data mods and script mods together to add a luxury bags section
  • A full Dungeons and Dragons system where each Zoi action triggers dice rolls with different outcomes
  • An NPC possession menu that lets players take control of nearby Zois through a custom interface
  • A stock market mod (built by a Krafton team member) with fluctuating prices, company listings, share calculators, and the ability for Zois to buy and sell
  • A height slider mod and a custom drink that makes a Zoi feel "strange, tingly, and dazed"

Beyond modding: other October changes

The mid-October patch is not purely a modding update. Kjun also confirmed autonomy improvements to address shortcomings from the previous patch, new outfits and hairstyles, refined NPC appearances, fixes for social events and restaurants, Build Mode access permission settings for employees and customers, an action order editing feature, and free placement in Build Mode available as a cheat.

Several high-priority bug fixes are in the pipeline too. NPCs autonomously dating or having children, the Devoted trait not working as intended, and romantic gender preferences being ignored are all being addressed. Kjun noted that NPC birth simulation is being reworked to factor in family harmony, finances, and trait combinations.

The "City Immigration" feature has been renamed to "Move to City," and multiple residential lot ownership is temporarily disabled while city-to-city moves remain functional. The Karma system, originally slated for October, has been pushed back and will be reworked alongside the Values system as part of broader personality improvements.

December update and what comes next

The next major InZOI update is still planned for December 2026, and Kjun teased it will involve the celebrity system. He acknowledged community excitement about K-pop connections to the Dowon city, writing: "K-pop in inZOI is a story that began in Dowon, and we have not forgotten that." Existing cities will continue getting attention too.

For players following InZOI's broader rollout, the PS5 version was delayed to the first half of 2027 earlier this year as Krafton works on console-specific controls and UI. The PC version, now over four years into development, continues to expand at a steady clip.

Kjun closed his diary with a measured note: "I believe the inZOI team is working very hard. There's still plenty of room for improvement."
