InZOI's development team has outlined what's coming in the game's October update, and the headline features are modding support, daily routines for Zois, and a reworked autonomy and conversation system. Developer Hyungjun "Kjun" Kim shared the details in a pair of posts this week, also clearing up confusion about the game's multiplayer direction after a recent event in China.

Kjun addresses multiplayer confusion

The InZOI team recently attended an event in China where they demoed an early build of "inZOI Canvas Town," the game's planned multiplayer mode. Because event constraints forced the team to limit the demo to mod support and select story-save features rather than showing the full online experience, Kjun said the presentation created misunderstandings about the project's priorities.

In his follow-up, Kjun was direct: the vast majority of the development team remains focused on single-player. A smaller, dedicated group is adapting existing systems for multiplayer, where they are currently testing towns with 20 or more players living simultaneously. Features actively in testing for that mode include multi-story residential housing, door locking and visitor eviction, simultaneous house building by multiple players, and relationship-building through parties and careers.

A preview video attached to Kjun's post showed a new city under construction where all lots, aside from roads, will be fully editable. The team is also exploring ways to let players edit roads and other fixed elements through a dedicated editor.

What the October update actually adds

For single-player, the October update has three confirmed pillars:

  • Modding capabilities, expanding the tools available to creators
  • Daily routines for Zois, giving them cycles of living, working, and returning home
  • Schedule editing, letting players directly adjust those daily routines

Alongside these, the developer diary detailed a long list of gameplay refinements already in progress. Zois will now only seek full meals when their hunger drops into the red; in the yellow range, they will look for lighter options like desserts or drinks. A new "talk on the phone" interaction lets Zois fill their social need without targeting a specific relationship. Karma-influencing interactions have been pulled from the recommended action list, so your Zoi's karma only shifts when you deliberately choose it.

In Create-a-Zoi, you can now hover over a household member's icon to see relationship details and adjust relationship levels before entering the game.

Smarter conversations and crowd behavior

Kjun dedicated a significant portion of his latest developer diary to the conversation system overhaul. Until now, InZOI's dialogue selection did not account for the relationship between two Zois or their emotional states, which led to conversations that could feel out of place. The October update will factor in relationships, emotions, and situational context when choosing dialogue.

There is a trade-off the team is actively solving: the stricter the system gets about picking appropriate conversations, the smaller the pool of fitting dialogue becomes, causing repetition. The team is expanding the variety and volume of conversation content to compensate.

Other improvements previewed in the developer diary include a functional basketball mini-game where shot timing determines success, expanded surfing and diving with a first-person camera option, better crowd avoidance animations, and the ability to order popcorn and drinks at cinema cash registers with workers who walk to the machines to prepare your order.

Where InZOI stands heading into fall

Kjun framed the update cycle as part of a broader philosophy of iterative testing. "I am not a developer who intuitively knows exactly what players want at a glance," he wrote, adding that the team plans to run multiple small-scale tests and build on community feedback. He promised another update by Friday.

With the PS5 version of InZOI pushed to the first half of 2027, the PC early access build remains the primary platform for these changes. The October update does not have an exact release date yet, but the scope of confirmed features suggests the team has been stacking work since the September patch.
