Loftia, the solarpunk-inspired MMO life sim from Australian studio Qloud Games, enters early access on 3 November 2026 across Steam and the Epic Games Store for PC and Mac. Console versions for Nintendo Switch 2, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5 are planned for a later date.
The base price is $29.99 USD / £26.99 / €28.99, with a 17% introductory launch discount that drops it to $24.89 USD / £22.40 / €24.06. If you played the Steam Next Fest demo, your progress carries over into early access.
What Loftia actually is
Set on a chain of floating islands, Loftia blends farming, crafting, exploration, and co-op puzzle-solving inside a persistent online world. Farming goes beyond the usual plot-and-water loop with hydroponics, aquaponics, and trellis systems. Players craft using renewable energy tools, upcycle gathered resources, decorate a personal island home, and adopt companion pets.
Traversal leans into the verticality of those floating islands: gliders, grappling lines, and jetpack boots all feature as ways to move between areas. Co-op missions, treasure hunts, mini-games, and community-driven World Projects round out what the studio calls a "build a world together" approach.
The character creator is described as inclusive, and outfit choices can be freely changed at any time without restrictions, with additional clothing opened through play.
Early access scope and roadmap
The early access build opens up three major regions (Loftia City, the Hanging Gardens, and the Gridfall) with a full storyline spanning all three. Compared to the Steam Next Fest demo, the proficiency level cap has been raised beyond level 5, new areas and secrets have been added, and pets are now available alongside expanded home decoration options.
Adventure islands accessible from Ryder's Airship, additional mini-games, social hangout spaces, and community farm content are also part of the early access package. Qloud Games expects the full 1.0 release around November 2027, roughly a year from now. Features still on the roadmap for that milestone include a Study Cafe, Player Markets, and Clubs.
System requirements
On Windows, the recommended specs call for an Intel Core i5-12600K or AMD Ryzen 5 5600, 16 GB RAM, an NVIDIA GTX 1660 or AMD RX 5600 XT, DirectX 12, and 10 GB of storage on Windows 11 64-bit. Minimum specs are more forgiving: an i3-10100F or Ryzen 3 3100, 8 GB RAM, a GTX 1050 or RX 560, DirectX 11, and Windows 10 64-bit.
Mac players need Apple Silicon. The recommended configuration is an M2 Pro with 16 GB RAM on macOS 14 Sonoma or newer. Minimum is an M2 chip with 8 GB RAM. Intel-based Macs are not supported. Both platforms require a broadband internet connection.
One Tree Planted partnership
Qloud Games has partnered with environmental nonprofit One Tree Planted on a cosmetic collection called Under the Canopy. Twenty percent of net revenue from Under the Canopy items in the Backer Boutique (the in-game cosmetic shop) goes directly to One Tree Planted, with the studio committing a minimum of $50,000 USD within the first 12 months of early access.
The initial supported project is the Kenya Dundori Reforestation initiative, which grows more than 12 indigenous tree types. Players who purchase the Growing Together Bundle ($49.87 USD at launch, which includes the base game, Supporter Pack, and soundtrack) or the standalone Supporter Pack ($19.99 USD, which includes cosmetics and a robot pet called Greeny) also contribute: 25% of the Supporter Pack price is donated.
Importantly, the Backer Boutique is cosmetic-only and does not affect gameplay. Qloud Games states there is no gacha system, and 93% of cosmetics will be earnable through play. A separate Community Pass lets players open additional cosmetic rewards from World Projects, with no expiration on earned items.
Worth watching
The life-sim space has grown more competitive this year, with Paralives holding strong in its own early access and Witchbrook arriving in January 2027. Loftia carves out its own lane with the MMO structure and sustainability theme, though how those ambitions hold up at scale will depend on early access feedback and a steady content cadence over the next year.
