Krafton's latest InZOI developer diary, posted October 30, shifts the spotlight from last week's celebrity update reveal to something builders have been waiting for: a batch of experimental build mode features that could arrive in the December update. Director and Producer Kjun also published a separate response addressing community concerns about the celebrity DLC, base-game balance, and simulation depth.

Not everything shown this week is confirmed for the next patch. The developers specifically asked for player feedback on several of these features, noting that some may not make the cut.

Build mode experiments: free placement, grouping, and micro-rotations

The headline additions center on giving builders more control over object placement. Override placement lets you put objects where build structures would normally block them, bypassing the game's built-in restrictions. Free placement is being expanded so objects can be resized, distorted, and repositioned without the usual constraints.

Object grouping is the standout quality-of-life change. Pieces of furniture placed next to each other can now be moved as a single unit, and this works across different item types rather than only identical copies. Structures like fences and walls also get a version of this: objects attached to them now stay connected when you change the structure's height or move it.

Micro-rotations add finer angular control, which pairs with fixes to rotation key responsiveness. Wall textures that previously cut off on tall walls can now be stretched to fill the full height. And a price filter has been added to the build mode catalog.

One early concept worth flagging: the team has tested adding new land patches inside Build Studio, though Kjun noted they are "unsure how it would apply in the actual game." This one sits firmly in the experimental category.

Beyond build mode: map search, property permissions, and restaurant fixes

Several features address everyday gameplay friction. A search bar on the map lets you find specific locations, lots, and businesses. Property owners can now set access permissions per individual Zoi, and business owners can select multiple objects at once to apply identical use permission settings. You can also edit a property's name, thumbnail, and description.

On the simulation side, restaurant employees should no longer try to clean a table while Zois are still eating at it. Pool animations for curved walls have been improved, and upper building floors now stay visible until your played Zoi actually walks through the door.

Kjun addresses celebrity DLC feedback and base-game concerns

Last week's celebrity update preview generated excitement but also pointed questions about whether InZOI's DLC strategy would lock out fundamental features. Kjun's response was direct: core features like Bubbly (the in-game social network) will not sit behind a DLC paywall. "Our goal is for the base game to be enjoyable on its own, with DLC adding extra depth on top," he wrote.

On the celebrity system itself, Kjun acknowledged that fame "should not only be about idols, and it should not be just a number." The team is considering career paths for actors, models, bands, and solo artists, along with a progression system that starts small (bars, cafes, street performances) before reaching major stages. Skill levels would affect performance quality, and crowds would react to bad shows.

Players also pushed back on the new city of Evermont looking "too flat and similar to Bliss Bay." Kjun noted the feedback and said the team would keep improving crowd variety, terrain, and nature.

Simulation depth, hotfixes, and mod recognition

A recurring thread in the community response was that simulation fundamentals matter more than flashy additions. Kjun agreed, listing specific plans: making interactions last longer (with the option to cancel or auto-resume after urgent needs), giving NPCs more initiative to ask Zois on dates or propose on their own, and making personality traits more visible through behavior.

The team also acknowledged modders who have been solving pain points ahead of the official game. "We're watching closely and will keep looking at which features belong in the official game," Kjun wrote, adding that quality-of-life features like prioritizing leftover food, removing loading screens when switching family members, and allowing Zois to watch TV together without a group action are all being discussed for official integration.

A hotfix is planned before the December update to address duplicate Canvas texture loading, portrait display errors, a camera spotlight toggle, and several crash issues. A longer list of known bugs, from floating nails to Zois getting stuck in vehicles, is also in progress.

Specifics on DLC pricing, a November patch, and the full December update schedule have not been announced yet. Kjun said those details will come "once our internal discussions are complete."

For those following the broader InZOI roadmap, the PS5 version was pushed to the first half of 2027 earlier this year, so the PC build remains the primary platform for these updates.
